Even tho i hate Katy and her stans, I have to admit that Dark Horse did have a big impact on pop music. After Dark Horse blew up many artists started doing songs in the style of Dark Horse. "Trap" influences, a feature by a rapper, almost the same beat. A Good example would be Nick Jonas' "Numb"
Many have copied the formula for Dark Horse but have yet to be as successful.
Btw Dark Horse is trap, more EDM trap but still trap
Right.
Pop artists only started using trap beakdowns after DH smashed despite trap music existing long way before DH. I doubt they would have done it if DH hadn't smashed

DH is the first #1 smash hit trap influnced song that had an impact on the charts. Don't @ me unless you have receipts to prove me wrong
I mean using that logic i guess you agree that RedOne is the one to credit for electropop music obliterating the charts back in 2009-2011 and not Gaga right?
nn at some of you making up excuses that make no sense. "Dark Horse" is pop-trap and it brought trap back to mainstream despite being just a pop song with trap elements. "7/11" is no more trap than "Dark Horse". I guess Katy's song was more successful because it started the trend, while Bey's song was nothing we hadn't heard before.
Yonce didn't even bother to promote 7/11, and that song is really not mainstream friendly tbh. Yes, it's a fun party song, but that's about as far as it goes. With those lyrics, it would have barely made it to the top twenty on the pop airplay chart. With that being said, the song still performed well for the audience it was targeted - urban and rhythmic radio.
Dark Horse was an unexpected turn for Katy, and I believe that's what made the song so successful for her. And yes, Dark Horse has trap elements in it. Let's not be delusional in here.

But remember Dark Horse was basically #1 before any promo or even being released as a single
