And as for that argument in general, how would it be hypocritical? Religion is the root, or at least justification, of homophobia for a lot of people. The Abrahamic religions have been the overwhelming majority for millennia, and have never been oppressed except by each other. Gays have been oppressed for millennia, and a lot of that is directly attributable to religious teachings.
Are you saying that it's hypocritical for people who have been marginalized and oppressed by religious teachings to criticize the religions whose members teach it?
