British singer, Tulisa, has lost a High Court bid to launch an action against the Irish Sun over what was described as a "shabby sting operation", naming her in connection with drugs.
The 24-year old former X Factor judge wanted permission to bring an action for defamation against the newspaper claiming she was set up in a sting operation in which it was allegedly suggested she audition for a €3.5 million Hollywood lead film role which was also being considered by British actress Keira Knightley.
She has alleged she was taken in and believed she would get the part if she presented herself as street wise and as someone who knew about drugs.
The singer claimed in documents read to the court that she was told she was being considered for the main role in a movie which would also star Leonardo DiCaprio.
"I fell hook, line and sinker for what I now know was a sting operation," she said in an affidavit.
Her lawyers asked the High Court to extend time for Tulisa to bring the case.
The High Court President, Mr Justice Nicholas Kearns said Tulisa Contostavlos, had been "cruelly deceived in a shabby sting operation" and there was no doubt it had caused her grave upset.
But he said he was astounded that a more rapid reaction to initiate legal proceedings did not take place. He said he was satisfied that there should be no extension of time for the case.
