The state House passed a bill to make the Bible the official state book of Tennessee Wednesday, but opposition from Republican leaders in the Senate could write the final chapter on a measure that has deeply divided lawmakers.
After another hour of passionate debate for the second straight day, the chamber voted 55-38 Wednesday to approve the measure sponsored by Republican Rep. Jerry Sexton, a former pastor from Bean Station.
Sexton argued that his proposal reflects the Bible’s historical, cultural and economic impact in Tennessee.
It is a very important part of history in the state of Tennessee, so what does it matter if it's the state book or not? Doesn't really impact anything important or harm anybody.

They must have considered other options but they chose the Bible instead because they must have thought it best reflects their state. And if it had been any other book, I'm sure no one would be ranting about this.
