Why does it matter if "rich artists" are the ones promoting it? Most of you don't even care that artists are better compensated, you just don't like Tidal in general. Just be honest.

I don't like the idea of Jay-Z and his business partners/musicians getting money from other artists' work. Not only do they get paid for streams of their own music, but they get paid when people stream others' songs, simply because they are stakeholders.

I honestly would rather it go to a record label executive than to another musician who didn't have a hand in creating the music.

What kind of logic? So you'd rather it go to a label exec who also has no hand in creating the music even if the artist makes less in the long run? You clearly just have a bias towards the stakeholders/

So you'd rather it go to a completely unrelated artist just trying to grab some coins off the work of others instead of a label exec who's cashflow has an actual chance of trickling down to the artist you were originally streaming? Not to mention, some of these indie artists dont have criminal deals with their labels, and with spotify being a great outlet for indie acts to get their work out (lots of acts even owe their rising popularity to spotify) they still would have been the ones to benefit from Tidals higher streaming revenue. Seeing a line of multimillionaires cry about wanting to be paid more did unnecessary damage to a service that might have actually been a good idea.

Nicki shouldn't get coins when I listen to Death Cab. Beyonce shouldn't either, especially when she's already grabbing coins from the songwriters she steals credits from.

The label gets a cut regardless just like with Spotify. The stakeholders just take less of a cut than Spotify. You make no sense. You are okay with random suits (and Justin Bieber) getting "their cut", just not another artist. Okay....

Also it only "helps indie artists" b/c Spotify is popular. If Tidal becomes just as popular as Spotify, the indie artist will get paid MORE. Like what don't you get?

No one is dragging Tidal for existing. The bad press (which is the majority of it) came from the condescending and ridiculous way it was launched.

Also, the JB thing is irrelevant to me seeing as I use the legal, free spotify streaming. So none of my actual coins went to his, where-as if I was interested in Tidal, I'd be paying into a bunch of people I don't even listen to or like (anymore!)

this is true. i acually see a lot of the navy dragging Rihanna for her involvement in TIDAL and rightfully so. The hive is another story....defending this messy service even when the Writing is On the WALL.

In no way shape or form are they "crying". They are simply offering an alternative. And they have every right to get paid a fair amount for their work, whether they are rich or poor.

Also, using Spotfy=paying Justin Bieber. He is a stakeholder, he gets paid regardless of the type of streaming due to ads or subscriptions.

once again, clearly stated, I have not paid for spotify so he has not seen any of my personal money. Him getting paid for my streams is irrelevant to me because that's money that is coming from someone else.

Yes, because the execs would have a relation to the actual artist. They would be heads of the label that decided to sign the artist and give him/her a chance and they have a vested interest in that artist's success and further development.

Jay-Z, Madonna, Beyonce, etc. getting money from other completely unrelated artists is kind of sad. It's like it doesn't matter how hard an artists works, Jay-Z and his crew will now try to make money off of that artist too and they won't really have to put any effort into it.
