Madonna is still the queen of pop and will always be the biggest game changer in female pop landscape. But comparing a 30 year career to a 7-8 year career (Katy, Taylor, Gaga, Rihanna...) is just stupid. In 20 years who knows where these girls will be. Some might fade, some might eventually become more succesful than her.

Both are very different artists and deserve respect. MJ was always much more conservative than M who was never affraid to try new things and experiment. Thats why her discography has so much variety while MJ was recycling the formula that worked for him. Both left amazing music for us and both triumph each other in different aspects so dont even try to pit them against each other hun. They are both immensely talented pop titans.

And #1 singles are meaningless anyway, 4 Minutes was/is far bigger than whatever #1 Mariah got in 2008 and Hard Candy almost doubled E=MC²'s sales.
She knows how to carries herself and manipulate the media into forgetting things asap. Like, she wouldn't apologize, explain herself or moan over yesterday news. She just keep on moving and has the machine to back up her upcoming plans. She's like an politic, many people from this area get drown on very messy things but turn around and come all brand new in a way or another. The president of pop, she is.
