Despite middling reviews, the Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) Watch got off to a solid start Friday, with U.S. pre-orders topping one million, according to shopping data firm Slice Intelligence.
Some 957,000 people in the U.S. ordered an Apple Watch on the first day the smartwatch was on sale. And the average buyer bought 1.3 watches, according to ereceipt data from 9,080 online shoppers. That would suggest more than 1.2 million Apple Watch units were ordered on Friday.
On average, Apple Watch buyers spent $503.83 per device, Slice said.
We estimate production of Apple Watch around 2.3mn units in March-May. Mass production of Apple Watch began in March and will likely reach 2.3mn by end of May. Considering that most consumers who preordered will not get the device until June, we estimate global preorders of over 2.3mn units, with Apple Watch Sport, Apple Watch and Apple Watch Edition representing a respective order allocation of 85%, 15% and less than 1%.
Its the Apple users who seem to have the most money on average tho.... So who is spending frivolously?
And you're coming to that conclusion because they're spending $800-$1000 on a phone that Android users can spend on a 5 year old one that does the same and more for like $200?
To put it into bigger perspective, Android users tend to not waste their money on useless things.
If they got the money, why not spend it? Why do you care on what people are spending their money on, just be glad they aren't spending it on drugs or something.
If they want to spend $500 on a watch, let them be, it's on them.
