California is not important at all (compared to New York). It's the most populous, and has a lot of impact but importance? Definitely NY, especially if we are talking about a WW scale

• Better schools
• More restaurants
• More bars
• More cafes
• Less phony alternative medicines
• Lower vice rating
• Lower unemployment

As a potential tourist, New York is more important to me. I only really hear negative things about people who take trips to California (LA being dirty, etc), whereas everyone who visits New York says it is the best trip they have ever taken Oh, and Hillary Clinton
