Tech: Apple set to take on Spotify and Tidal

I don't think one will take down the other. The only lead iTunes. Will have is overtaking the iPhone market which is huge but there's something for everybody.

I don't know why anyone would go with Tidal over Apple. If anyone could threaten with Spotify, it's Apple with an iTunes + iOS integrated streaming system.

Pretty much. Apple has a much larger marketing budget along with friendlier ties with labels and artists. They can also offer higher quality music. It would be hard to compete with Apple.

Artists teaming up with different streaming services for exclusives is DISGUSTING. Music is for EVERYONE, regardless of how much money they're willing to pay or where they choose to subscribe to stream their music. It was already annoying that iTunes, Target and Best Buy were getting bonus tracks, but it's only getting worse now.

Not this article making Tidal out to be some huge force in the music streaming industry when it isn't even close to being on the same level as Spotify, which is where Apple should be aiming with their own streaming service.

Apple are the only people to take on Spotify on, it's going to become interesting. Especially with who's involved with Apple's streaming service

Same. I don't really have anything against Spotify, but I have a very large music library already and never felt like reconciling multiple services. If Apple seamlessly integrates their streaming platform into iTunes/iOS/the music app, it'll be an easy switch for me.

Can someone please explain this thought process to me? On-demand streaming is not some god-given human right. Music is a product that you're free to consume or not consume (or listen to on the radio, or download illegally dd).

Like, where are the people complaining that TV and movies are FOR EVERYONE! when their cable or Netflix bills come in? Why should you have to pay to see the Yankees play when sports are FOR EVERYONE!? Music is no different.

Sooner or later, you'll have to pay for 3 or 4 different streaming services to listen to all of your favourite artists; and ain't nobody got time for that.

Which is why there should just be one leading the pack. I think with Apples power they could manage to give Spotify a good run, isn't their streaming service going to be cheaper?

If the streaming membership allows you to buy a certain number of songs per month for free, I could be into it.
