I really understand her need for analyzing her dad's perception of himself and she was right, he just couldn't handle that type of fame and I agree with her that he did the most selfish thing, but whatever like get over it.
It's like you're the one who's really selfish talking about this matter with the media, I guess like father like daughter.

I wonder where she stands on that whole El Duce controversy and his murder.

Nirvana are way better than the others she listed that's the real problem here
Nah I see where she's coming from with this but I don't think it's as simple as she's making it out to be.

I don't agree with her, but I'd try to understand her. Only people in her shoes would know how horrible it feels to be left behind in such way.

Ugh I hate this place
Y'all do anything to defend someone that's killed themselves (which isn't a bad thing) but then turn around and deny this girl her complex feelings about it, telling her what she should and shouldnt feel

Before I say what I have to say, I’ll say this. Celebrity sucks. I can’t imagine what it must be like for her to have to endure the pain of having no father in the public eye, where she can be scrutinized and dissected. I can’t imagine what it must be like to lose someone to suicide, because that’s never happened to me before. I also did not read the whole interview before, and I should have known better to jump to conclusions off of clickbait titles and out-of-context anecdotes. As easy HME had said, the OP was misleading.
I don’t mean to post-***** or make this thread my soapbox, but I feel like I need to clarify my earlier posts.
I totally understand her dislike of suicide, considering there are people who talk about it like it was some legendary thing to do and romanticize his death. My first post wasn’t directed at her, but moreso at the comments that had followed shaming/trivializing suicide.
Suicide shouldn’t be glorified – but it shouldn’t be demonized either. It’s not black and white. It’s a decision that somebody makes for themselves, when they are in a place of unbearable pain. People don’t understand the nature of mental health and there is a stigma surrounding suicide (which you can clearly see from the posts in this thread).
As someone who has and still fights with suicidal thoughts, where I was coming from wasn’t so much me trying to dictate how she should feel, but rather it was coming from me seeing people being angry at people who choose to end their lives or saying they’re selfish – when in reality they’re the selfish ones. They’re selfish because they think their feelings are more important than person who actually is going through the debilitating pain and turmoil. That the person who is actually suffering should stay alive just because if they weren’t here, it would make me uncomfortable. How do you think the suicidal person feels? Hating someone on top of everything they already went through – what does that do?
Not once in my post did I say she should “get over it” or that she was “wrong” to feel anyway she wanted to feel, and yet a few people took that and ran with it. It’s her father and life, but I was looking at the bigger picture. If I had a loving father who killed himself before I got a chance to grew up with him, I would probably be just as hurt and angry. I apologize though if I offended anyone when I said she sounded ungrateful, it is her life and her father – but it would be his love for me as his child that would be most important to me.
It wasn’t my intention to sound judgmental, I’m sorry to her if I did. Lastly, Frances Cobain more than likely doesn’t give a **** about anything I have to say, but I wish her the best in the future.

Eh, she's wrong for this tbh. It feels like she still hold some kind of resentment over the fact he "abandoned" her by killing himself . Thing are are not so black and white. He had a lot of problem and couldn't handle them. Doesn't mean that he didn't love her or diminish her importance in his life. Quite the opposite, you could crealy see how much Kurt loved her and how she was the most important thing for him.

!
Anyone who has ever read his suicide note will know that he loved his family above everything.
He was an incredibly troubled person who fought drugs and depression for years.
People who think that people who commit suicide are selfish or abandoning them are completely out of touch.

Her mother, Courtney Love, suffered with the same issues as Kurt -- maybe her issues were not as bad, maybe they were worse, either way Love did not kill herself... so she has a right to feel abandoned by him while her mom took care of hr despite suffering from similar troubles.

I get it suicide isnt selfish imo but i can see why shes jaded/ bitter about not a having a father and that she wasnt enough for him to try to get healthy and happy but its history and i hope she finds closure and moves on.

Kurt's daughter is definitely allowed to have her own opinion on this, and it should remain unchallenged. I'm sure she thinks about it more than anyone in the world. That said, I hope she does realize that he wasn't leaving her. He was finding the only escape he could from his inner demons and overwhelming mental health issues.
I would advise everyone making negative comments on Kurt to study more on suicide and the severity of mental health issues. Mental health is such an ignored topic, and there's still such a huge stigma on it. Understanding is the first step to making it better.

Imo, she shouldn't say that. She's entitled to her opinion but she doesn't know what Kurt's condition was.
She's still young, she'll regret these words when she grows up a bit more. He obviously didn't abandon them.
