Why is this laughable? Did you read the OP, notice he said anime and not franchise. What impact did the Pokemon anime have? DBZ is recognized as one of the first big animes and has influenced a lot of others after it.
But what does that have to do with a thread asking which anime is more popular

Girl, when will Freeza have pastors PREACHING about the evils of DBZ? I had friends who couldn't watch Pokemon because their mother thought it was demonic after hearing a sermon at her church.
Pokemon was HUGE. Even when I lived in Botswana, the anime was all any of the kids talked about. The game was irrelevant since no one had a gameboy or had even heard of one, yet every literally EVERYONE had seen the anime.
DBZ doesn't even come close to touching Pokemon at it's peak of popularity. In Japan the pokemon anime movies >>> Dragon Ball Z anime movies. WW it's even more of a gap. There are pokemon movies in the top 10 highest grossing animated movies in Japan where DBZ is no where in sight.
Like, in what world does DBZ even come close. I need to see receipts.
