There will always be pockets of places fighting against a minority so in the end the Supreme Court has to step in (as usual)

Kennedy, the swing vote, would look like a big hypocrite for striking down DOMA but keeping these bans. Plus he'd be joining Scalia who basically thinks gays are the devil, I hope he does not want to be on the same side of history as him.

It it doesn't go through it would be an embarrassment, and would be one of the only Western countries to outright deny it at a federal level. They'd be decimated by the public.

It's so funny to me a court has to rule about this and not the national legislator (the people's representation). Courts here don't have that authority

I don't think they're ralling here from what I see on the map

I don't think they'd be dumb enough to, but imagine if they rule against the gays. Ferguson Part dos is coming

sis I'm sure they have, supreme courts have the final say in any law, they can struck down any law that is unconstitutional

Considering the lack of ANYTHING being produced in Congress, I'm quite thankful that our courts DO have the power to do this.

I remember in 2013 it was about ending DOMA and Prop 8.

1) Does the Fourteenth Amendment require a state to license a marriage between two people of the same sex?
2) Does the Fourteenth Amendment require a state to recognize a marriage between two people of the same sex when their marriage was lawfully licensed and performed out-of-state?

The courts are there to make sure laws are constitutional. The Congress pass laws.

The US has a system of checks and balances. Maybe if you didn't rush to attack the US everytine and scream about how great your Holland is you'll realize that. No branch has more power than the other.
