It was always weird that Snapchat exposed who you snapped with most in the “Best Friends” list, so today the app is ditching that for a new private way to see who you’re closest to. Only you will see these new Friend Emojis on your screen of incoming snaps.

Gold Heart – You’re #1 Best Friends – The person you send snaps to most sends snaps to you most too
Grimace/Grit Teeth – You Have A Mutual #1 Best Friend – The person you send snaps to most is also who this person sends snaps to most
Smile – One Of Your Best Friends – This is one of the people you send snaps to most
Sunglasses – You Have A Mutual Best Friend – One of the people you send snaps to most is also one of the people this person sends snaps to most
Smirk – You’re Their Best Friend But They’re Not Yours – You’re one of the people they send snaps to most, but they’re not one of the people you send snaps to most
Fire – You Two Are On A Snapstreak – You and this person have sent snaps back and forth for the number of consecutive days shown

There are also two more new features. A “Moon” icon at the top of the camera lets you turn on and off a low-light mode, which will help you capture photos and videos when its dark. Previously, Snapchat’s camera was terrible in low light compared to most phones’ default cameras. Now when you’re in the dark, the moon icon will appear, and you can tap it to instantly brighten what you’re looking at.
Snapchat also wants to remind you to send snaps to people you haven’t in a while. When you go to pick friends to send a Snap to, under your list of “Recents” who you’ve snapped with a lot recently, you’ll see a section of “Needs Love”, who are people you used to snap with a lot but haven’t sent one to in a while.
The six emoji "weren't just our favorite ones (shout out to the poop emoji), they actually mean something super-important — they break down your whole squad," the post read.
