the vocal slayage of sweet dreams along with the sensual dance + the blackout + the iconic instrumental drop + the fully performed choreography + the outfits + the army of dancers + the hair + the glove + the audience getting his life like rarely seen on MTV + the signature song of her career + the fact that it won VOTY and best choreography that night.
Isn't this the one where she started playing "Red Light/Green Light" with her dancers?? Sounds like a gimmick to me...
Her 2011 performance of Love on Top feels like a better example.
As for my favorite?? Hard to think of one that blew me out of the water, but some of the ones that come to mind right now:
* Adele, "Someone Like You" (2011)
* P!nk, "Just Like a Pill" (2002)
* Christina Aguilera, "Hurt" (2006)
* Paula Abdul, "Medley" (1989)
(And if we all agree that Fred Durst never existed, I'd add Xtina's 2000 performance to the mix!)
For females, I always say:
1. I'm A Slave 4 U
2. Satisfaction/Oops!...I Did It Again
3. Paparazzi
4. That's the Way Love Goes/If
5. Sweet Dreams/Single Ladies
It's a shame that creativity on this site is considered "gimmicks."

LOL. nobody said "most remembered". and none of performances here are either remembered.
Beyoncé has truly memorable performances like no other pop star so your shade is WEAK.
The fact that you genuinely believe this performance is remembered
The fact that you think IAS4U 2001 VMAs isn't "remembered"
