"Judas" is a really odd example of a song that would theoretically be a perfect single, but really shouldn't have been released as one. The lyrics were perfection, but it borrowed too much from "Bad Romance" sonically. She already had so much controversy surrounding her, it was reaching reaching a limit, and the Easter release was definitely NAGL. It slowed down the momentum of the era, and was only saved by "The Edge of Glory", which itself took a hit from the controversy.
"Hair" should have been the second single.

Yall know if Judas didn't get released as single, we would all be 'WHAT IS WITH THIS BITCH, this is a 10+ weeks NO.1 CERTIFIED SMASH HIT!!!!!' when album dropped, and if era ended without it's release, well, I guess #CutForJudas could've become a thing.

Not so bad considering the bad publicity around Artpop from 2013 to mid 2014 w/ Cheek To Cheek.
Just Dance should reach 7M within the next 3 months.
The Edge Of Glory should get the 3x platinum certification within this year.

Poker Face's longevity is crazy. If next era is a true comeback and a commercial success / return to form, then all her back catalog will benefit hugely too.

If she has a good role in AHS that might be the first big step to relaunch her. After all, the target audience of that show is pretty much the same of pop music.

Just Dance will definitely take a year to go over 7 million. 20k copies is a lot for a song that's rarely in the iTunes top 1500. That's less than 1k a week. But if she discounts it a few times that'll help.
Anyone notice me in the billboard article

Thanks for getting us that updated sales list sis. And Gaga better be reading to tell Bobby / Interscope to discount Just Dance to snatch herself a new record.

Since it's been just over a year since this last sales update, we can pretty accurately say this is how much she's sold in the past year.
Applause: +167,000
Poker Face: +118,000
Do What U Want: +108,000
Just Dance: +89,000
Bad Romance: +85,000
You and I: +78,000
Born This Way: +63,000
The Edge of Glory: +60,000
Paparazzi: +56,000
Telephone: +52,000
Alejandro: +35,000
LoveGame: +26,000
Cheek to Cheek: +583,000 ( )
ARTPOP: +67,000
The Fame: +28,000
The Fame Monster: +15,000
The Remix: +3,000
Born This Way: The Remix: +1,000
A Very Gaga Holiday: +1,000
Born This Way: +?*
(*Born This Way's data is not available, as the March 2014 update listed it at 2,326,000, while today's lists it at "2.3 million", meaning that they rounded down for today's update. This means that the album could be anywhere from 2,326,000-2,499,000, as anything after that point would lead to a round up. That means the absolute most the album could have sold during the past year is 17,300 copies.)

The 1-2-3-4 punch at the start of The Fame is honestly why it got a 71 on Metacritic, in my opinion. Though ARTPOP does have some moments of organizational brilliance ("Mary Jane Holland" to "Dope" to "Gypsy" is spot-on), I think it could have fared at least slightly better critically if the tracklist had been organized differently.

Agreed.
A change of tracklist could have improved the perception of ARTPOP. First impressions are everything, and leading with Aura-Venus-GUY was simply not good enough. Not when a lot of critics had already sharpened their claws, and their negativity influenced so many.
We're such an instant, fast-food culture that she needed to impress from the get-go to stand a chance.
Applause, for instance, made creative sense to go last but it could completely legitimately have gone first and started the album on a high.
At the end of the day though, it'd be hard for it not to sound too all over the place because you have the sex songs (Sexxx Dreams, Do What U Want, G.U.Y), the weird songs (Venus, ARTPOP, Aura), the fashion songs (Donatella, Manicure, Fashion!), the drug songs (Mary Jane Holland, Dope, Swine) and then...Gypsy and Applause.

OKAY RANT!
Me and my friend were discussing the 3 R8 songs we got so far! We agreed that they are cute but far from "timeless", as Rihanna claims R8 to be.
He then swiftly scalpéd me and made me cry in under a second. He says that for him, a timeless album is ARTPOP! Some of his quotes:

What makes ARTPOP timeless is the combination of the product and it's performance over time.

The product is put together so well. The quality of ARTPOP is beyond too

ARTPOP didn't blow up, or not like her other albums, but it's far from a flop. To me, timeless music doesn't blow up. Because if something blows up, you can become tired of it really quickly. And ARTPOP keeps sounding fresh
|
Now sistrens, did he lie ??? Is ARTPOP a timeless album?
Either way, he made me so proud. He is a kween! A saint! My effort turning him into a Little Monster really paid off after all

This just made me think of Applause opening the album and that would be completely amazing. Even though I think that it would have been hard to make the album seem cohesive either way because the sounds are just all over the place.
I mean, there is no way you can transition between songs without it sounding like an extreme jump. Maybe songs like Do What U Want and Sexxx Dreams would've matched together for their soft R&B melodies and maybe G.U.Y. and Applause around the top of the album to open it in a good note.
