Didn't Applause have 101 performances upon it's debut?
Didn't Dope debut at 8 due to pure streaming, the same time Billboard adjusted their rules?
Didn't 45S chart higher overall WW and in more countries than Applause?
Didn't BBHMM debut higher than 45S?
Didn't she not make a "Rihanna is over" YouTube video cuz she couldn't handle what was being said about her and her music?
i didn't say that but she clearly didn't make it for having success.
that would be ok, if that song was a single for Paul McCartneys album, like when Nicki, Mia, Justin worked with madonna, but it's other way around this time so
Rihanna is in a place where she can deliver whatever she wants. it's not about only smash hits. she can stop for having smash hits at least one era and enjoy music. she worked her ass off for like 7 years, having hits after hits and i think she's ok with not having any #1 this era. she's not struggling. if she wanted a #1, it was easy for her to get it.
Gaga worked with Tony Bennett, he's a legend and she clearly didn't work with him for having smash hits or a smash album.
Her career was at a point where Tony Bennett saved her from complete destruction. Didn't she herself say how Tony gave her strength to not leave the music industry?
It wasn't about a smash or not. It was about her surviving and not fading into complete oblivion.
Applause actually had more and stronger competition I mean it was released at the same time as Roar. While Uptown Funk and Thinking Out Loud have been here for a while and passed their peaks.
