If Ronson and Mars' collaboration spends at least one more week at No. 1, "Uptown Funk!" will surpass a list of six songs -- including the Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling," Los Del Rio's "Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)" and Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" -- that have spent 14 weeks in the penthouse of the Hot 100. And if it logs two more weeks at No. 1, the current hit will tie Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" for the longest-leading Hot 100 No. 1 ever, at 16 weeks. Of course, "Uptown Funk!" would hold the title by itself if it makes it to 17 weeks at No. 1.

This thread is to discuss If you want or not "Uptown Funk" to break Mariah Carey/Boyz II Men's iconic record and which song you think deserves the record more.
I am pulling for "Uptown Funk" because I want Billboard to be forced to choose a song other than "The Twist" as the Number One Hot 100 Song Of All Time.
I like "One Sweet Day" and Mariah Carey, and feel bad Boys To Men seemed to just disappear; so I am not pulling against OSD just for UF.
I can't say much about OSD because I was 2 years old when the song was released and I never heard the song in my life until like 2 or 3 years ago when I was obsessed searching about Billboard's records. I don't remember seeing the music video on MTV when I was younger and never saw anyone singing the song, but I know that in the US is pretty iconic.
I love UF and it's very impactful for me, but we live in the era of the internet, so everything seems bigger. I'm not sure If I want Bruno to break Mariah's record, tho.
One Sweet Day holds a special place in my heart since I used to play it non stop when my brother died.
I know that Mariah will still hold the record for female longest running number one single but still I would like her to hold on to this one for a little longer.
Even if the record is snatched, Mariah will still have 2 songs that spent more than 13 weeks at #1. When will Mark Ronson or Bruno Mars? And also she's held that 16-week record for like 20 years, that's makes the achievement even more impressive.
i really will be pressed if that one hit wonder snatches Mariah, who btw deserves it.. not that Mark guy. i cant
It's pretty much a Mark & Bruno song, and both are not one hit wonders. Also, Ronson is responsible for Amy Winehouse's biggest hits, so I kinda like him for that too.
I must confess I was rooting for Rihanna to break that record with We Found Love or Diamonds!
the sudden interest in the meaning of OSD
i ain't ever see y'all bring it up so much when it comes to Mariah unless it's about its 16 weeks
even y'all overlook it a lot
Mariah, Boyz II Men, and Bruno all have better songs so it really doesn't matter
i think it's great that the record might be matched or broken
I don't *want* it to obvs because G0D, but I also won't really care much if it does, especially since he's a male popstar and I like Bruno. If anyone else should have the record besides G0d, it should be a universally loved artist not some dusteh pop girl.

It's fine if Bruno matches it, but Mark Ronson? and with Uptown Funk? It feels like Macarena all over again, but this time in English.
One Sweet Day is a beautiful song. The acapella version deserves to be preserved somewhere in a time capsule. No one can ever make a duet about love and loss ever again as great as Mariah and Boyz II men.
