I bought five copies of ARTPOP (one digital, four physical) and four copies of Cheek to Cheek (one digital, three Starbucks physical). I bought the rest once (digitally), except The Fame, when I saw a physical copy at Target.
Another reason Marry the Night and The Edge of Glory should have respectively been the 1st and 2nd singles - other than the astronomical 1-2 punch they create - is the fact that it would conceptually take us from the beginning of the album to the end before we even got it, kind of like we were given a peek at the birth and the death of something before we got to fully enjoy the life of said something. I don't know, just thought that would be really deep and could play into the album's themes somehow had she done it that way.
I actually need to rebuy her discography! I lost my TF copy and it's scratched to hell same with TFM (never bought the TFM digital deluxe I might just do that instead). I still have BTW deluxe, but I might rebuy it just in case it's been awhile, and ARTPOP is censored so I'm considering buying the uncensored one since they honestly did a botch job on that disc.

They were completely inoffensive songs also. Judas was too controversial and Born This Way, while I loved it, wasn't lyrically as mainstream.
Born this Way had to be THE lead single. The only way it wouldn't have been a lead single is if they whole concept of the album was scrapped and it wasn't incpuded.
With the albums message and title Born this Way just isn't imaginable as a 3rd+ single and definitely as hell not an album track. It's like saying Baby One More Time shouldn't have been a Lead Single to its album or Blurred Lines shouldn't have been a Lead Single. There's certain songs that are the only logical options as a Lead Single and BTW is one.
Yes, BTW is the only option to be the lead. Imagining Gaga singing MTN chorus at 2010's VMA's is so just not right. The "I'm beautiful in my way, 'cause God makes no mistakes, I'm on the right track, baby. I was born this way" line is pretty iconic/remembered.
