AFAIK, they haven't really had any TV ads, it was just a Press conference. Who knows what commercials they have lined up going forward? They could use the stakeholders in ads and save a fortune they would otherwise have to pay.
Beats by Dre sold really expensive headphones to the GP, despite things like ipods, coming with free ones supplied. They managed to become really successful due to intensive marketing and celeb endorsements. Obviously not everyone can afford Beats Headphones, but enough bought them such the company was massively profitable. So clearly lot of people will fork out money for products that they deem worth it to them. There are countless other examples.
Looking forward I think the streaming market will only grow, and broadband bandwidth capacity will also increase over time, so HQ lossless music streaming will become standard. If people want to be early adopters on this or not is up to them.
When people say they don't need HQ lossless music quality, they have a point, but technology evolves forward. In ten years, people will laugh when they think at the LQ copies of music that we use now, in the same way we laugh at Black and White TVs or Walkmans and Floppy Disks.
