The simple answer is, many of them get famous and all of a sudden think they're too good for it. Then they go to the Grammys and whine, complain and cry about them not celebrating hip hop and urban music...while still refusing to attend or perform at the ceremonies that actually DO celebrate that music. It's crap. Plain and simple. They'll perform at the AMAs or even the Billboard Awards or iHeartRadio Awards at the drop of a hat, but when the BET Awards, NAACP Awards or the Soul Train Awards call they can never make it. If Oprah can still show up - who has more money than all of them - than they can too. It's not even really about the awards, it's about several of these black artists thirst for white approval.

They shun the awards shows that do celebrate urban music and then kiss the ass of the awards shows that don't. Every single year, time and time again. It's also the reason why black awards shows don't honor certain individuals.

You are so right. A lot of them that don't come to the show complain about the misrepresentation of black genres at the Grammys. They have no problem with trying to get white approval. I've never even thought about it like that.

The channel is called Black Entertainment. They should consider ALL Black artists regardless of genre. Not every black artist makes R&B and Hip Hop music.

that showed me that BET IS here for her but 106 was (at least when I last watched it which was LOUD era) a VOTING show where people picked the videos they wanted. Wait Your Turn was her longest going#1 video on there from what I remember. Followed by Hard and WMN. I think it's pretty easy to see what was going on here. Her urban/R&B stuff did well there but songs like OG did not which makes perfect sense with that audience.

BET may have been a Lil shady after the CB thing but she came by twice once for RR era to perform Hard and promote the album and LOUD era to promote and the audience was actually stanning hard for her esp during her visit during LOUD

And she won a good load of awards since 09 include Best Female Artist which is kind of a big deal considering this show would eat Beyonce with a spoon if they could.

I think it is just her personal choice to not attend no one really knows why.
