I am not against Tidal.. I just remembered with the help of this article and the fact i studied the same thing a few hours ago for my exam, that artists don't own their music.

Companies will earn more from Tidal than they do from Spotify.
The stakeholders will earn more, for the simple reason they are stake holders, wouldn't be a difference if it wasn't Streaming Service, but another type of venture.
And the difference for the ARTISTS won't be BIG ENOUGH - which makes the whole "It's all for the artists" completely untrue.

I am not against Tidal, in fact I was supporting the idea (besides the horrible and laughable marketing), but now I acutally realized that those people at the meeting will be the most beneficiary, then the Companies and then the artists, songwriters etc. are again left BEHIND

Who cares that a song will give me 10$ more if it was streamed on Tidal, when a song streamed 1205r81259 times more on Spotify will give me more money, even tho with smaller average ... ? Tidal can't surpass Spotify, that's like thinking that someone huge can make a Video Sharing platform and will surpass Youtube, because of 10 huge artists...

It's just BUSINESS, it's not for the artists. That's what I don't agree with, BUT they can persue their money all they want, and NO ONE here can tell them anything, because they are not doing anything bad really..

He owns a record label company. He will be receiving less profit. So stop with the 'he is already so rich' argument.

All this talk about the artist/labels getting paid and less talk about what's in it for the consumer. Oh well.

The service may be great (I dont know!) but this is a massive PR nightmare right now. Backfire indeed.

No they won't. The money goes straight to the labels, not the artists. Jay-Z has no control over the contract with the label and the artist. Jay will be getting more money because he owns his label, right? He'll be able to decide how much he makes.

Pretty sure that Music industry works like the motion picture industry and that Albums (with all the producers, writers, singers) fall under the same treatement as movies (with all the script writers, directors etc.) so yeah ... I think it makes sense.

So basically these artists will get their money, but not because of the fact that Tidal will charge more and this way ALL artists will earn more. Simply because these artists own stakes of the company and ONLY they will earn more money, as well as the companies. They would've earned even more if they owned stakes in SPOTIFY and I am pretty sure that UMG for example earns more from Youtube and SPotify than they will earn from Tidal

which means that it's all just business of Jay Z's part.

Spotify also pays songwriters, they will receive the same whether on Tidal or Spotify.
