If this succeeds, then the music industry will lose. A $20/month music service is never happening, but if the artists involved in this start pulling their music from other streaming services then streaming all-together will fail.
And currently, streaming is the only hope for increasing revenue within the industry. Album sales are still dropping & digital sales are free-falling while streaming is softening the drop in most countries (actually, revenue has been increasing in the nordic countries for years)
I could understand the artists concern if 1) Spotify steals from them (when actually they still lose money each year) 2) It really was about the small artists, not filthy rich stars trying to get even more money.
So yeah, this should be a big deal for every music lover.
