I will never understand the negativity of the internet. musicians come together to form a business and everybody bashes it. nobody is forcing you to use it.

like literally everyone is like I hope it fails. are yall so bitter in your own lives that you want to see a business venture crash and burn?

When has anyone in the history of history ever been like, "Rich people are getting together to form a corporation. Yeah! As part of the working class, I totally support that! Awesome!" As time has repeatedly shown, it's pretty clear that the 1% aren't really the most moral and trustworthy of sources.

theres a difference between not supporting something and literally hoping and wanting it to fail. this is a damn music streaming service it isn't even that serious.

If this succeeds, then the music industry will lose. A $20/month music service is never happening, but if the artists involved in this start pulling their music from other streaming services then streaming all-together will fail.

And currently, streaming is the only hope for increasing revenue within the industry. Album sales are still dropping & digital sales are free-falling while streaming is softening the drop in most countries (actually, revenue has been increasing in the nordic countries for years)

I could understand the artists concern if 1) Spotify steals from them (when actually they still lose money each year) 2) It really was about the small artists, not filthy rich stars trying to get even more money.

So yeah, this should be a big deal for every music lover.

I have to agree. This is just a ploy to make Jay seem like an innovator. This whole pretentious "change the world" campaign for this service has been annoying. The artists are coming egoistical and full of themselves. Instead using their voices, for a cause that could change the world i.e. on social issues in a gathering like this.

There's probably substantial opportunity for a (supposedly) HQ audio steaming service to find its footing—after all, everyone's a self-proclaimed "audiophile" these days. And I'm sure there's even a contingent of consumers, albeit a small one, that's genuinely concerned about fair compensation for musicians. Of course, a call for equitable payouts would be easier for most people to rally behind if the faces of the "revolution" weren't among the most handsomely rewarded in their industry. I'm embarrassed for all involved, though, for the most part, not surprised that this assortment of transparent money-grubbers would rally together and proclaim "artistic revolution" with only self-serving interests at their core. They'll have to forgive us if we can't identify with their struggle.
