Fans of the main artists participating in the project will agree to pay the monthly fee for some time and enjoy the service. Everyone else will continue using Spotify or ilegally downloading their content.
In a year or so it'll be over and no one will even recall Tidal's existence just like what happened with that beats music app. My prediction.
Will do alright initially but Spotify will still come out on top. Only way they'll stand a chance is if they do free streaming w/ ads... which I doubt will happen.
or it could surprise and become the Netflix of the music industry.
unless it's actually a great service better than spotify, then no.
they're demanding more money than spotify for services for which there isn't a market. i mean like, better quality audio, who is asking for that?
they're going up against a streaming service which has literally become the standard, and the fact that it's very artist-fronted comes across as being somewhat self-absorbed. a faceless service like spotify is more universal.
I don't think the casual music fans needed to really support this initiative in droves care enough about lossless streaming to switch from their already free/cheaper Spotify accounts.
In history books, seriously? Don't know if you've read a history book before but very rarely do that talk about insignicant stuff like this. Maybe in a marketing or economics book, but history, nah.
