That dubious distinction belongs to Edmonton candidate Allan Hunsperger, whose infamous “lake of fire” comment helped lose the 2012 election, as voters balked at a party promoting homophobic preaching straight from the 1920s.

A Wildroser threatening gay Albertans with an eternity in hell was bad enough, but Calgary candidate Ron Leech then upset the moderate majority by claiming his skin colour as an election asset, because “as a Caucasian, I believe that I can speak to all the community.”

if that's the case then their debates are pretty much like a battle of who is more bigoted and brainless. It must be agonizing for leftists to watch them quarrel about whose laws/policies are more oppressive and backwards. So do yall have Pride Day in Alberta? If so is it supported by the local govt? Dont yall have a democratic type of party list there to go against these fools?

Both Calgary and Edmonton have gay pride festivals, and yes they are supported by the government.

The 2012 (or 11) was lead by Calgary's mayor. And the Premier of Alberta made an appearance at gay pride in 2012.

Former Wildrose leader Daneille Smith appeared at an Edmonton pride as well.
