Don't worry Tymps, I get what you're saying, but it all comes down to priorities. I want to pay for music because I believe as consumers we should, but others don't think they should and don't want to sacrifice like I do. Because I pay my $5 Spotify subscription fee, I don't eat lunch on Wednesdays.

I'm sorry, music is a huge part of my soul, but when it comes to bank account, I'm not willing to hand it over for a tune or two.

Y'all are preaching tonight.
I don't wanna judge anybody's expenditures, but I know
my retirement fund will be better off without Tidal.

They're literally false advertising and saying that you'll hear songs with different instruments, yeah it sounds clearer, but it doesn't magically make instruments appear

Sis you need to realize that we're arguing with 16 year old twinks that still live with their parents and have $0 expenses.

With all due respect, I doubt you are paying for anything without an allowance.
Stop acting y'all are all for the artists with these things when your parents are most likely paying 85% of your expenses.

Bruh. that's a LUXURY. Maybe people have more important things to spend their money on, like food, bills, etc.

$10 isn't the difference between living on the street and being comofrtable for 99% of people. Stop with the overexaggeration. If it cost $300 a month then I could see "people have to spend money on things to LIVE on" being a proper excuse, not $10.
& why do you bring up me being a 'kid' so much? Like does knowing you're talking to a kid give you some sorts of strange satisfaction? LMAO.

This is my biggest issue. Do ya'll NOT want to compensate musicians for their work.
I feel bad when I pirate, cause that's someone sweat and blood. But I also don't want to pay for every album just to LISTEN to it. Some albums have a short shelf life for me. Streaming is the middle ground. You don't have to commit to one artist/album/song, but you're also not ripping off anybody.
Now I'm not even debating Tidal vs Spotify. I'm making a case for Spotify Premium and Tidal Premium. $10 a month on either service is really a steal.

I don't, or have ever had an allowance. I have my own income.
Sorry you don't have $10 for expenses. Take your anger out on your boss.

$10 is not bad though
Although, I'm not sure if I'm going to keep a Tidal membership, $10 is relatively not that much money. That's two Starbucks drinks. That's about nine songs on iTunes. A large Big Mac meal with a milkshake. A T-Shirt.
Any decently responsible person can budget around to afford this

Exactly. The price for the looseless version is so expensive you might as well buy the album or pirate the looseless version. The regular version to too expensive to compete with Spotify $5 a month plan. Even Beats which is backed by Apple is better.
Really this is a niche product that will have to face Spotify, Google and Apple to succeed and that will hurt tidal in the end.

If that's what it comes down to J get it. Really. I just don't get how people don't feel guilty if they have the money to at least pay legally for some music but illegally download and stuff. That's really what I meant to argue against and I got derailed and just started saying things and they didn't hold up. I'm sorry

These fools up in here saying "I'm sorry you don't have $10, I do! LOL"
That's not the point.

But what's the point when you have Spotify which is cheaper? You have to remember those things you listed are luxuries.

There will be naysayers with new gimmicks. No one is entitled to support this product just because Jay-Z, Beyoncé and the like are behind it and practically telling you that you should. If people want to spend $20 per month on a gym membership ( ) and decide that a pay music streaming service isn't important to them, that is their right. The nerve.
|
!! I can't at these people.
They're only behind it because their favs are behind it. I love Bey and even I think this is such a stupid move.

Perhaps because there's actually an incentive to use Hulu or Netflix?
Personally, I don't watch enough TV to pay for Hulu, so if a show I want to watch isn't available for free to watch on their website, I will scour the web for it or give up and keep it pumping. But I like my movies, and Netflix makes it easy to watch with good quality, something that the average person cares about. Movies and shows are far harder to find for free online, and even when you do find it, the quality can very often not be great and the files take up a huge amount of space.
For most people, as long as the quality isn't absolute trash, no one cares about the quality of the music file. So when you can easily listen to it on YouTube or snatch a quick download or play it on Spotify for free, there's really no incentive for this Tidal mess.
