For some reason I can imagine it happening EXACTLY like last time. Gaga will be like "I'm coming back on Septem-" and straight away Katy will be like

"I'm coming back 8 days before whatever date she just said."

I doubt Gaga would move up the release of her single to directly compete with Katy again. I think she's learned her lesson.

If I remember correctly, Gaga was all set up to release and announced late July/early August and then Katy came in 2 weeks before Applause was supposed to be released and tried to overshadow (well not tried, I guess succeeded)

Right. And Katy intentionally decided to release her single during a separate week and her album during a separate month to avoiding competing with Gaga. Gaga was the one who moved Applause's release to the same day as Roar.

Yeah, this is basically how it happened. Gaga announced her comeback with that picture of her in the big clear face mask, and then I swear it was only a couple of hours later, Katy announced that her single would come out exactly 1 week before Gaga's.

That's what made the stan war so funny. Katy and her team had intended on doing that the entire time.
