The Americans use Caucasian because of a book in 1779 where a German scientist, Johann Friedrich Blumenbach, described the different races and used the term Caucasian for the whities (how convenient,because Noah landed with the ark on the mountain Ararat - near the Caucasian mountains, you get it). He was wrong because it's an own race nothing to do with Indo-European but that was known later when another scientist,Conrad Malte-Brun, found out the similarities between the German language and the Indian language. like the word milk, German Milch India milka.
