I think the good sis was just referring to the fact that he's built like a knitting needle.
Zayn's been recording solo material for months before this, so I'm not sure why we're surprised that his solo music already exists and that he's still working on it. I'd do the same thing if I was in his position, finally free to do my own thing and make the music I like with enough money to support myself. Of course I'd be in the studio as soon as possible.
It's really not that surprising that he's doing just that, especially as a stress release. I'm sure he's interested in a solo career but I don't think this is the "Zayn left solely to pursue a solo career" story that everyone's running with. It's an extra bonus.
