Not really. It's clear they weren't aiming for anthems on ARTPOP which is fine. It's not like DJWS tried and failed. I'm sure if Gaga steered him in that direction with her songs he could do it.

Can you imagine she had released Marry The Night as the lead single and my favourite song of all time would have had the international smash-hit status it deserves

This is something I have always thought about, as an introduction to the dark era it would have fitted perfectly but oh well.

Yeah, those synths should have been in the beginning of the song. Still. I like how it begins with just her voice a capella. It's a nice contrast considering how produced and loud most of the music is (don't mean this in a negative way btw).
