Why are people mentioning 4? It sold like 3 million ww. How can a 3 million selling album be an "iconic flop"? Are the rules different for Beyoncé? It only slightly underperformed. Would have done better if it hadn't leaked so early and had better singles.

well a 2M selling album (2013-2014) ended Gaga's career, so I don't see why a 3M selling album(2011) can't be considered a flop

In the US, J.Lo hasn't had an album go gold since 2005. In fact, her highest selling album since then has only shipped 350,000 (at best). I wouldn't be calling her streak as of late all that great!

The only reason people know about Glitter is because of the movie it is associated with. BOTH flopped simultaneously, hence why the media talked about it.

But the fact you say the GP and most people on here (or under 30) don't know about the album or movie, says a lot.

Because it was an underperformance not a fall from grace.

It still debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained there for a second week. It has positive moments associated to it, and still managed to create iconic songs such Run the World.

And not that much had changed between 2011 and 2013 that the years should be mentioned next to their sales. This isn't a 2001 vs. 2011 thing.

It's hard for a flop to be iconic because usually most people never even know about it, like Britney Jean. But yes Bionic has really become the iconic flop album of this decade... the Gigli of the 2010s.

ARTPOP was messy but didn't flopped, it was a underperformance. And Applause was top 10, DWUW went platinum, G.U.Y. had a great video (despite the flop), the era had a tour, etc.

Britney Jean is not even considered an iconic flop since no one remembers/cares for it, not even Britney. It was a buzz promotional album for her Vegas residency.

No one expect great sales for Madonna nowadays, only some of her delusional fans, so her flop is not even surprising at this point.

Bionic was a mess. She came from a successful era but everything went wrong.
0 hits, 0 top 10s, no tour, completely low sales in general and for her standards, the never ending Gaga comparisons, only 2 music videos... and i think this era started the new "flop" trend era on online forums tbh.

It's a shame since BiConic is my favorite Legend X album and deserved way more. The album still sounds fresh today and it's full of bops. I bought it the other day on a physical store and i had a mini meltdown when i saw it cuz it's been a while that i was trying to get my copy, now i own it. The booklet is flawless, so is the album.
