I used to HATE in retail when people asked "Is this fresh?" Of course you have to say yes, you have cameras watching you 24/7.... Bitch, of course it's not fresh! Management wants to sell everything regardless of how old it is... they don't want to throw anything out, they hate marking things down too.
Other things I HATED about customers...
1) They walk in the door and get about halfway through the store, turn to you and say "Are you open?" No, a**hole, we just leave the doors unlocked for the fun of it.
2) "There's no price on it.... oh it must be free!" HAHAHA!"
I swear if I heard this ONE more time
(pretend the computer is a register lol)
3) When you go to check the bills with a counterfeit pen or hold it up to the light.... they either say "I just got it from the bank, it should be good" or they'll say "It's good, I just made it this morning" Your ignorance does not amuse me.
4) People never know how much they have on their debit / credit / or EBT card. Then you go to give them their receipt, and they throw it back at you or throw it on the ground. One time I asked, "Don't you need this for your check book?" and the person said "Nope, I don't keep track of what I spend."
5) When people ask you something that doesn't pertain to your department, and they get mad at you because you don't know the answer. Sorry, I'm not an encyclopedia. Everything comes up to us with a price marked on it.
6) When people leave stuff on the counter and then walk away. There are other people behind you waiting to be rung up.
7) PEOPLE. ON. THEIR. F'NG. CELL PHONES. I am a HUMAN being, not a robot designed to swipe your card. Show me some respect, and I will show you the same back. Where I worked, we refused service to people who were using their cell phone, because it is rude, not only to us, but also the customers behind them. Excuses we heard: "I'm not talking on my phone, I'm listening to music / I'm texting." Same difference
"It's important, I have to take this call, it's an emergency." Well if it's so urgent then maybe the grocery store isn't the place you need to be
One woman even threatened us, saying "I'm not getting off my phone... you WILL wait on me or I will come around there and put my foot up your a**...." "And if you make terroristic threats against me again, I WILL call the police and they can be here in 30 seconds, they're a half a block away. Have a nice day" and some of the things I've heard people talk about while on their phone
8) People putting their babies with their poopy diapers on the counter ..... JUST NO!!!!
9) Women who take their money out of their bras / blue collar type men who take wet money out of their pockets
10) People's clothes.... one woman was wearing nothing but a bra and short shorts, she was probably about 200 lbs. and her bra was held together with DUCT TAPE
I was so nervous it was going to pop open and.... well, you know....
