Theyre promising "high fidelity music" which isn't even possible unless you have the right equipment to listen to it on and "artist exclusive" which Spotify can combat with its own exclusives.

It's a gimmick and nothing more. False promises so you'll pay twice as much for the same things you get with Spotify. It's all about money.

HDD brought up a good point. I wonder how the artists who weren't at the meeting feel about this, especially if it does become popular. Hmm

A missed oppurtunity for what? Losing money?
They won't care. This company and its investors will be bleeding money for the next few years as they pay these big-name artists to join their catalog despite not having enough paid subscribers to turn a profit. In addition, they have to keep paying their artists, pay for copyright, strike deals with companies, strike deals with artists for exclusive content, etc. They are going to be in the hole before they even begin. Spotify currently has 10,000,000+ paid subscribers and they still struggle to pay their artists fairly. Do you think this new company is going to be able to pull it off despite not having 10% of the subscribers?
Unless this company can convince every major artist to leave Spotify completely (which, hello, will take even more money this company doesn't have since it doesn't have any subscribers), they're doomed.
Spotify is cheaper and thus will continue to win. Cheaper always wins.
