Actually, you'd be surprised. Not everyone knows who Britney Spears is. I was talking to two of my foreign coworkers about Britney and they didn't know who it was, and didn't know a single song. I thought they were joking but no.
I can't speak from anecdotal experience to vote, though, since 99% of the world knows Britney. So I'll just say it's a tie. Both are well known and extremely famous.
Why are people bringing up music tho? I mean yeah, that helps in making you famous but being in the media more/magazines etc. helps MUCH more on the fame side of things and Britney Spears owned it all. She was the most searched person every year from 2000 to 2008. Beyonce has only been the most searched once, in 2013. MJ, Gaga and Kim K overshadowed her in the other years.
The one thats most searched, most photographed and if that's not enough go on google comparison Britney leads by a lot and that's excluding 1999-2004 which was Brits peak so she absaloutely demolishes Bey and the Britney haters on a little music forum will never take that away
