She's hot, talented and makes nice music. But even doing it, which is super catchy, was only a moderate hit in the uk and is flopping in the us. WHAT'S GOING ON??!

She has bad music and sounds like she's screaming in all her songs. That's my two cents, though, I can't speak for everyone.

I feel like most of her songs have a weird production. It's like, her voice might sound too robotic to many. I still don't understand why "Break the Rules" flopped so hard tho, that song screamed hit.

I think although she does make good music, every song is just "good". There are no "amazing" quality songs that could smash as singles / that are obvious singles.

And she was never going to happen with True Romance. It's way too dark & alternative.

Doing It had good radio support and promo, too. Charli seemed a bit miserable in the promos I saw, but I don't think that's it. People are not clicking 'Buy'.

Her music isn't easy listenable imo, she has a very rough yet basic sound

Her "breakout record" is full of campy throwback songs that are drastically different from the ones that people know her for (aka Fancy, Boom Clap). People listen to her album hoping to hear more of that, end up hearing stuff like Famous and Red Balloon and end up deciding that they're not that interested in that type of music (which they think is all Charli does because nobody wants to even allude to True Romance's existence)

She's kinda happening. She still has some buzz tbh. The problem is that her current success, or lack of thereof, can't support the buzz at all.

Now the reason why Doing It is not happening is because most of us were wrong all the way. Sure, it has a strong chorus, but the rest is weak af and the production does not stand out at all. She needs to find her own lane with a more obscure pop subgenre, like punky or retro or something. Releasing a typical pop song didn't work out the way most of us thought it would.

Agree with this. Slicker production would help. Doing It might have performed a bit better were it released in the summer, IMO.

Name alone is displeasing to my eyes, so there's that.

She can sound like screaming or pushing the mixing table in overdrive till the clipping is noticable.
There are trance-like buildups and she hits the brakes, you hear the idling of a car stopped in the middle of nowhere instead of letting it soar up into the skies and explodes in a climax.

She's had more success than she deserves.

Her music isn't all mainstream + some people might not like her personality. Like on Sucker, without TFIOS and IBES she wouldn't have had a hit probably. DI was kinda a non-event even though it went Top 10 but it was kinda messy.

Break The Rules was a hit in Germany

No good music and lame looks/personality.

She lacks charisma, personality, the IT factor and look.

She looks like Selena Quintanilla and sounds like Marina and the diamonds, so .....

Voice is a bit cringeworthy. Boom Clap however shows that, besides her lack of the IT factor, that people are going to buy her music when it's good.
