Ok, so when I posted this thread I had just begun watching Lost. I was around Season 2. I didn't say that, because I thought people might spoil it. But I began questioning whether or not I liked Lost more than I liked The Walking Dead, which had me a little confused because The Walking Dead is without a doubt my favorite TV Show right now, and in many regards it feels groundbreaking and boundary pushing.
It would appear that Lost was the same way groundbreaking and boundary pushing, but after having watched the whole series now of Lost, I realized The Walking Dead is significantly more intelligent than Lost. (Obviously TWD had the comics, and that's a great way to guide the tv shows, but bringing a comic book to life, and making them real, living, breathing, and emotional characters, that we fall in love with, is something only the writers can do, with brilliant writing, and that's what they did)
The Lost characters were rich, and well written, truthfully everybody in the main cast was well written, some of the greatest back stories, it was as if Lost was two television shows in one, we had the flashbacks which told a completely different story from what was going on over at the island, which made the show extremely refreshing. I think the thing that puts The Walking Dead ahead of Lost is it's intelligence. For me, the mythology of Lost seemed to be a big part of the series, and that along with character development, and their stories of themselves actually being lost in their own lives, but! toward the end it felt as though the mythology was lost.
I'm not saying they should have answered every question that they through out their, because that would've been dreadful, and left no imagination for the viewer, and I do believe great art should leave us asking questions, but ending, although I found it beautiful, it was kind of a slap to the face, (I enjoyed it, don't get me wrong) I just think they had such a rich story going on, but I knew myself, while watching, their is no way the creators even know what is going on, or what the answers are, which made me loose confidence in ever really understanding what the mythology meant, and after it was all said and done, it really was just there, and didn't mean an awful lot, and the real story was the characters, and their struggles, but I know the mythology was such a huge part of the story, that it feel like the one question that should have been answered like. Why this island/why these people (other than them being lost in their own realm, so many of us are lost, so why these people, and why this island) was lost, because I'm sure the writers winged it a lot of the time, which doesn't take away from them, I think the Lost writers are extremely creative, but I think they lack the intelligence that The Walking Dead has right now.
I'm sure The Walking Dead already has season 6 and maybe even season 7 planned, people have already said Scott Gimple (writer on TWD) could tell us what is going to happen season 6 episode 8 for example, because they plan that much ahead, and that's what I think Lost lacked, which left for some episodes feeling like fillers (and I'm sure we may think TWD had some of those, but in truth, it sets up something for a bigger story to unfold)
Lost had so many brilliant moments, and it kept me wanting more, if I had to watch it week by week, it may've been annoying in truth, but all at once, having them all, was really great.
Juliet and Sawyer in that construction sight, the "I love you, I love you James, I love you so much!"

Sun and Jin

(they did them wrong, Sun was the greatest character from season 1 - 5) 6 she kind of felt lost, because of poor writing for her character.
So many great moments. I think one of the main story lines that killed it's momentum was the flashbacks to different years, I couldn't wait until that was over, because that Daniel character was so dull, and everything that surrounded him was dull.
I also felt the beginning of Desmond's character was written badly, but it came around when he joined the group.
Lost is still one of the greatest things to hit television, but if I compare the two, The Walking Dead has a bit of a nudge over Lost, but that being said it's not by much, and Lost is absolutely amazing.
