Madonna is a legend and all but why does it feel like.... you don't get that legendary vibe from her anymore? post-2008 Madonna just feels like another artist.
And the fact that she messed around with Bieber on Ellen, Miley on MTV, etc
Adjustment for album sales is obviously inaccurate and most people know that but it's the best way we have to compare current albums to older albums I suppose

She's a mess and she needs to stop
Cuz she's not as elusive anymore
Same with Gaga, she destroyed her enigmatic/mysterious/icy persona and now she's just not interesting anymore
One way to compare relative strength of albums' first-week sales in different eras is to compare their shares of annual album sales. When measured this way, the first-week sales of "Red" could have the most dominant market share of all time.
-- Taylor Swift: "Red" (2012) 0.00038% (estimate)
-- Lady Gaga: "Born This Way" (2011) 0.00034%
-- Taylor Swift: "Speak Now" (2010) 0.00032%
-- 'N Sync: "No Strings Attached" (2000) 0.00031%
-- 'N Sync: "Celebrity" (2001) 0.00025%
I used the data for Red and Btw from your table slobro and the results are very different from BB's. Explain.
We should completely drop this whole album sales talk tbh. What will matter in next years will be how many times an artist's album was streamed. Ed Sheeran is a prime example of that. X has been mostly streams.
