If you're against same-sex couples raising kids, you better get used to it. Society will eventually accept homosexuals, because we are NEVER going away. This is really no different than when Asians and Native Americans weren't allowed to marry US citizens because inter-racial couples were considered criminals, or when polygamous marriages in which a man would have countless wives were OKAY. It wasn't until 1967 that inter-racial marriage was allowed (less than 50 years ago). Equality always wins. If you have an issue with same-sex couples, you better buckle up and update your archaic views on what truly defines marriage and family.

Whether her dad was a deadbeat or not is irrelevant, he was not in her life growing up and that was not within her control as a child. The same issues apply to straight single mom and dad families. It is her opinion that the ideal situation is one where a child is raised by a mother and father but we all know the world is not an ideal place. She is also not alone in thinking this and simply attacking anyone that disagrees with you on it is not going to change any minds.



So the author can sympathize with her but at the same time says she is fabricating her feelings. In her case being abandoned did change her, she clearly states it did and that is how she formed her opinion.
