My step dad is a cop and he's a damn good one. He's been struck by a person driving an 4 Wheeler and didn't even draw his gun, but the public said 'he deserved it'. There's been times where people have drawn weapons on him and he's only used his fists to defend himself, yet people still act like he's in the wrong.
Its getting to the point where I wanna tell him to stop helping people. He isn't getting the respect he deserves so why should he bother?

I also have family in the O.P.P. and I totally agree with you. The amount of stress these people have to deal with is unreal and the situations are so much more complicated than what the media reports. I'm not saying their decisions are always correct, but they're doing the best they can considering the onslaught of emotions and fast moving events that they're dealing with. They're human beings being consistently inserted into the shittiest situations and having to make judgement calls on a dime.
If you automatically assume the cop did the wrong thing based on a headline then thank goodness you're not a cop because we can't afford idiots like you to make these kind of split second decisions.
