Bridgit Mendler says Nelly Furtado inspired new album
Quote:
What about your upcoming album. Does it have a particular sound?
“I can’t wait to show people stuff. It’s so hard because I wish there was more that I can say. When you hear it, I think you’ll see how it fits. It will feel like the natural, next move. I bounced around for a minute with different inspirations and stuff. There was a period in time where I went pretty ambient with sounds or folksy. But I think it has come to a nice, sort of natural progression.”
Who were some of your inspirations?
“I’ve been inspired by Nelly Furtado, especially “I’m Like a Bird”. I also love Lauryn Hill. I had a conversation with my label a while ago talking about direction. I was like talking about The Kooks — I love them. They have great melodies and just real songs. I like when it feels like the song has a good story and melody. They asked me about the DJ scene. At first I was like, ‘NO!’ But it somehow happened that we melded the two worlds. I’ve worked with really cool producers that sometimes work on things more on the DJ end of the spectrum. And the stuff that we’ve done together turned out really cool. I’m just really excited for everyone to hear it.”
Interesting. I can't wait to know how is gonna sound that album.
She said that it's going to be a little like the Hello My Name Is album but with new influences and sounds like eletronic and alternative. She better come with an amazing album after so many time spent working on it.
