Do any of you guys like to cook? It's something I like to do in my spare time; and almost always, homecooked stuff, when done right, is better than any packaged or fast food.

I feel like it might be cool to have a thread to discuss different foods, recipes, and cooking in general.

I HATE cooking and I'm so lazy about it...

There's nothing worse than whatever you're making burns. It happens to the best of us.



Waffles though, are better than pancakes and harder to burn in my opinion.

I love to bake, like cakes, cookies etc. Although of course that isn't the most healthy thing in the world. But luckily I can usually resist eating loads of it and instead my family take care of that.

I would love to cook more food such as dinners, but I'm really, annoyingly paranoid and practically obsessive regarding germs etc so cooking with raw foods (such as chicken etc) is just too stressful for me. I leave that to other people.

Cooking is easier than baking, for me at least. I know what I'm getting when I cook my own food. Trying different recipes can be fun. Fried rice can be tricky.

I make a mean omelette. (?)

I made Eggs Bennedict for the first time yesterday and it came out perfect.

I'm going to make a Chorizo stuffed Calamari this weekend cannot wait.

I love cooking, and trying new foods.

Chorizo is one of my favorite foods. It's delicious and makes everything better.

One of my favorite meals to have anytime is a chorizo and spinach quesadilla. I fry up some chorizo, mix in some frozen spinach, heat up some corn tortillas on the stove melt the cheese in them, then put the spinach chorizo mixture inside. It's so good and takes about 10 minutes to make.

I love cooking, but I live in dorms this year and it's so hard with so little space and so many people around
I gained a lot of weight because of that. If I can't cook my own food I eat frozen trash

A lot of us americans grow up on frozen crap full of preservatives. Fast food too. The fact that fast food commercials have to stress how they use real meat, or real cheese, or homemade this and that, speaks volumes as to just how screwed up it is.

I like good restaurants, but they can be pricey. Cooking isn't for everyone, especially in this new fast paced age. But a lot of people don't know how easy it can be, and how cheap it can be. The good sis Kroger makes a lot of fresh stuff very accessible.

I heard that the American food is pretty bad, but I expected that to be a stereotype Is it true that veggies and froots (buy on itunes ) are, like, super expensive in US?
My mum taught me the basics of cooking when I was in primary school. By the time I was 13 I usually was the one that was cooking during the week, because parents stayed in work until very late and they a needed proper dinner after the whole day. It wasn't anything fancy, but it wasn't from frozen.
Because in Poland frozen food and fast food are quite expensive compared to home made, only drunkies and people with literally no time eat those. However, when I moved to Germany the frozen food was much cheaper when compared to regular food so I just used that

I wouldn't say produce (fruits and veggies) are that expensive. but they just cost more in some stores, especially organic. In many areas though, such as low income communities, fast food is cheaper than fresh food. One could buy three $1 McDonald's burgers ($3 USD), or one bag of spinach for around the same price. Most people opt for the former, which is why there are so many health issues like obesity and high blood pressure. fast food is okay some times, but a lot of people eat it all the time.

There are food deserts here in the US where it is difficult to find a grocery store with fresh produce and the US does subsidize certain crops such as corn that creates artificially cheaper processed food; but, at least in California where I live, fresh fruit and vegetables aren't too badly priced (although organic can be expensive if not bought from a farmer's market).



Also, I recently got a dutch oven and cooked a pork shoulder in it I put some peppercorns, some cumin seeds, a small head of garlic, and some bay leaves and it was delicious

I then used the broth from the pork to cook some beans in and I've been having leftovers all week. It's been a good week.

Does anybody have a solid cookie recipe?
