Speculation on which Procter & Gamble brands will be sold or discontinued began as soon as CEO A.G. Lafley announced he planned to get rid of up to 100 underperforming ones on Friday. But some brands are sure to stick, along with the P&G employees who work on them.
“It’s not going to be Pampers or Tide,” said Matt McCormick, portfolio manager at Cincinnati-based Bahl & Gaynor Investment Counsel. “There are some sacred cows. Everything else, it’s a question of the price.
Other “potential keepers” include Oral-B tooth care, Head & Shoulders shampoo, Always feminine care products, Charmin toilet paper and Bounty paper towels, which round out the Top 10 best sellers for P&G, according to Dibadj.
Which of the remaining ones are likely to be let go?
The list of “potential divestitures” includes 120 lesser-known brands, including James Bond 007 Fragrance for men. It could be shaken out of the P&G family if it doesn’t stir from No. 199 out of 200 brands ranked by sales. Also on the list: Alexander McQueen fragrances (167), Christina Aguilera perfume (156), and Trojan laundry detergent (142).
Truthfully, her perfumes only do well in Europe. P&G never committed to a US campaign because her first fragrance "Inspire" did very poorly. They are making final decisions in the coming months and it looks like her brand will be terminated or sold to another company.
First time hearing that Inspire flopped! Did it really do bad? Why didnt it sell well?
It was discontinued due to poor sales. In 2008 her brand wasn't that popular but if she released a fragrance in the US today I think she would do a lot better because of her presence on The Voice.
