Nice try, but women get beaten and raped every day in every part of the world and it's much more common for them than it is gay men. And this story has nothing to do with LGBT rights.

This is the reason gays don't come out in West/south/central Asian societies
I am not generalizing because I have seen some parents excepting their kids for who they are but majority of them cut them off completely . Can you imagine being abandoned by your own parents who loved you for 20-something years and then just treat you like that one sudden day ?

I have never heard of South Asians beating gay people (unless they're Muslim Pakistanis). Aren't you a Sikh? Do you really believe your parents would beat you or even abandon you? I've heard some horror stories with Sikh families in Canada involving domestic violence and interracial dating, but I didn't think it was a cultural issue.
Most of the South Asians I meet are Hindu and closeted, but it's more due to their own insecurities and not wanting to deal with the process they have to go through with their parents rather than safety and acceptance. Acceptance always take a long time.
