I think this is why I go even harder for her, every time she shows she is taking some steps foward something comes out and try to take her 2 steps back. The powers that be may not want her to win, but I think after everything she has been through and she is still here dropping albums etc that there is a reason why she is still here doing her thing. Once get breakthough comes the tides will change. I think it's coming soon.

in 2015 it's getting incredibly hard to create a song that doesn't sound like another one that already exists, particularly when you're not reaching for the stars creatively (I Bet is great but it's not groundbreaking / wasn't meant to be)

I stand by my point; so many people try so hard to create something 'new' or 'fresh' and either end up making a mess or something that sounds like another song regardless. If the blueprint for a great song is already laid out, I have no problem with an artist utilizing it, adding their own distinct sound and making it their own however they can. Especially if the music harkens back to the golden age of 90s R&B.

Don't hear it at all. R&B songs from the last 10 years or so with the exception of very few artists all sound the same in one way or another.

It will be interesting to see what Ciara (producers & label) do when JD, Usher & Bryan Michael Cox formally ask to be credited. JD said it publicly, but it can't be sidestepped that Usher & BMC also heard the similarities.

By the way, we can hate JD all we want, but it doesnt take away from the fact that he really does great work.
