No, Ankara, as in the type of printed fabric, not the Turkish city. You know, wax print. I have no idea why it's called "Ankara." What Bey is wearing looks like a Demestiks by Reuben Reul outfit, TBH. He's big on Etsy and Beyonce uses him from time to time. He does a lot of pencil skirts, peplum, A-line skirts, rompers, etc.


All the pieces are under $200. So, they're very affordable. I honestly don't know how he charges so little, while Stella Jean gets away with charging so much for her's.


My mom has one of Reuben's dresses, and she got me a romper (not the one Bey's wearing) for my birthday.

I'm not sure who this Reuben is but these dresses you posted are Ankara. An original material local to us in Nigeria. Does he at least acknowledge that this is Nigerian print?

Hmm . . . I don’t know. He may just refer to the material as African print or African wax print like a lot of people in the West do. Most of his work thus far is done with Ankara fabric, but I don’t know if he designs the material or if he just picks out various Ankara fabrics before making his clothes. Reuel is probably the best known Ankara garment designer in the US. He was getting good press on the black American interwebs even before Beyonce was wearing his clothes.
