If you have Spotify, either go in chronological order or start with Purple Rain, 1999, Dirty Mind, Prince & Parade. Or you could 'find' The Hits/The B-Sides which is a compilation he released in the 90s which would get you familiar with him also; He does have a large discography (34 studio albums) so I understand if it seems overwhelming lol.

Thanks for the tip, I'll start with purple rain since I've heard of that album (soundtrack?) and I think I have read somewhere it's his best work, I'll see how it goes from there lol If I like it I might try some more
