Like Empire, Glee was a huge, global phenomenon for it's first two seasons, but come season 3 the audience slowly and slowly died away until no one even talked about Glee anymore. It peaked and fell hard.

Granted, a lot of it has to do with Glee's awful writing, but Empire ain't exactly top notch writing either. It's addictive, fun, soapy goodness, but not above dipping in quality in future seasons.

Empire isn't as big as Glee was then but it is also fundamentally a really different type of show so idk.

I'd also argure that what we've seen in Empire isn't as innovative or remarkable as the first season of Glee was.

Empire has a core audience, so it'll never be that irrelevant, but I'm personally already tired of it. I only watched for queen Taraji, but the rest of it is a mess and the music is below average

OK! Its a TV show that is about the music industry so of course it makes sense to have music on it, but Glee was literally the TV equivalent of a bunch of kids doing Youtube covers of already popular songs and then reselling it on itunes.

I think I heard that the show's audience was like 70% whites actually , but you make a good point about Scandal.

Empire appeals to more audiences, which is why I think its peak will have more longevity than Glee's peak had.

There's a lot more you could do with a show like Empire compared to a show like Glee. Empire could very much do 7 seasons without having to replace anyone even after it's peak.

Not even. Glee started as a fun and witty satire of highschool that covered a ton of old fun classics.

Even though the quality went way down hill let's not act like the first season of Glee wasn't highly praised by both critics and the general public of ALL AGES because it was.

Empires quality might be able to stay more consistent than Glee though since it's humor doesn't revolve around parodying stereotypes like Glee did.

The shows aren't very similar at all, except for the fact that they're both musical, started with huge ratings, and make their network a lot of money through music sales.
Glee's storylines were more limited because it's based around highschool students in a glee club. It was bound to start getting old after a while. Empire is more edgy so they'll be able to explore more gripping subject matters
