What's an A-list and a B-list? Someone care to elaborate?
Quote:
A-list is a term that alludes to major movie stars, or the most bankable in the Hollywood film industry or to major recording artists, major international sports stars or miscellaneous occupations such as the most successful film directors, certain high profile media and entertainment moguls and the most notable international TV broadcasters.
The A-list is part of a larger guide called The Hot List that has become an industry-standard guide in Hollywood. James Ulmer has also developed a Hot List of directors.[1]
The Ulmer scale categorizes the lists into A+, A, B+, B, C, and D listings.
In popular usage outside the film industry, an "A-list celebrity" simply refers to any person with an admired or desirable social status.[2] In recent times, the term has given rise to any person, regardless of profession, in the limelight. Even socialites with popular press coverage and elite associations have been termed as "A-list" celebrities. Similarly, less popular persons and current teen idols are referred to as "B-list" – and the ones with lesser fame "C-list".[3] Entertainment Weekly interpreted C-list celebrity as "that guy (or sometimes that girl), the easy-to-remember but hard-to-name character actor".[4] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-list
P!nk is definitely A-list. How her performance was talked the next days.
She masters singing while in motion and is one of the 3 members of the most elite club: The main pop girls still having full status 15+ years later. (This is much more worth than being called A-list.) The other 2 members are Madonna and Beyonce.
To not invent new standards every few years, let's take a decades-old-standard: Since arena rock, stadium rock started in 1965. You have made it, when you are performing in filled-to-the-brim arenas on the other side of the Atlantic (Proving that you can crossover to other cultures, languages,... It's off course preferable to have status on both sides of the Atlantic.) or exceed it with multiple dates or stadiums.
When your arenas are 75% full or even less, you are losing status. Making people care enough to get off of their couch.
P!nk's arenas are the most filled up of them all (e.g. P!nk did 20k in Antwerp, Katy 18k, Gaga 15k, Britney 9k, Usher 9k,... Rihanna and Beyonce have multiple dates.) and still has her old songs played on the radios while her singles can become hits without hitching a ride on someone else's songs.

I rather choose "just there" over "You're not even there.".
I'm talking about those losing their freedom of touring around overseas, on a continent or in a country. When someone isn't seen for years/decades in your country or on your side of an ocean again. Where is the proof of existence?
And the touring force also referes back the Hollywood meaning of A-list. How bankable is an actor/artist?
Hollywood has their roots in status. Why they styled so pretty, classy, glamorous in the past? It's because they were competing with royal families to be a replacement for kings and queens in the public's mind.
Not to be contrary to you both, but many magazines have called her such.
In her solely musical career she's brought in over 700,000,000 dollars from the sale of singles, album and tours. That's a lowball estimate with math I spent less than a minute on. I'm sure the actual number is much higher, especially if you add in the money from radio and other sources.
If she has a new album out, it's covered on the news. Something happens in her life, it makes the news. Any award show would die to have her, because it's been proven that she brings in peak ratings for the telecast.
She absolutely is. She is one of the few that has conquered her private life being her private life. That doesn't make her any less, I just probably wouldn't consider her a celebrity, but rather an artist, which is more inspiring to be honest. (I could be wrong, and just never see her in celebrity headlines) but I'm pretty sure the focus is on her work, which is admirable. Musically an A Lister for sure.
