Non-Americans: Your opinion on Americans?
Just curious.
I honestly think we're some of the most misunderstood nationalists on Earth but its always interesting to hear what foreigners think. Keep it cute, please.

Is this thread needed?
All you'll get is the arrogant "I hate America" brigade from Europe. Then there will be the people witg double standards. Others with no clue on foreign policy and economics suddenly become experts.
Really it will nothing but negativity. This thread pops up everyone 2 or 3 months.

I honestly love americans and I think the USA is a really beautiful country.
The only thing I hate is that some of you are really arrogant and the fact that you call your country "America" and not "United States of America" annoys me too because America is a whole continent not just a country, but that's all. lol

We're not necessarily trying to be superior with the whole "America" "Americans" thing, especially the latter.

This is quite a typical thing for an American to say; it doesn't leave a good impression.
I love the country, I genuinely want to live there one day soon. I feel like there's this common idea where half of US residents are ignorant (or even stupid), but of course in reality there are some countries where that's way worse. Seems to be heaps of opportunities and wonderful people too, love it.

Theyre cool, but the rude ones are soooo horrible. A few stories of rude americans when I worked at a burger joint in high school and more when I went over for holiday a few years back. Obviously not everyone is that way and I have many positive experiences, but the rude ones are the only ones that left a lasting impression

I think it's a huge country with the most diversity in the entire world. So I'm not going to sit here and say "Americans are..." when Americans are literally everything. They're kind, they're mean, they're fat, they're skinny, they're black, they're white, they're Indian, they're East Asian, they're Middle-Eastern, they're Christian, they're Atheist, they're accepting, they're judgemental, they're conservative, they're liberal."
Literally every type of person exists in America so you can't generalise them.

For the most part I like them. I'd be wrong to sit here and list all types of stereotypes when it's so diverse. I wish an American would marry me so I can get a green card etc x

I was with an American (who lived here) for quite a while and I met his family etc and have been to the country a few times, so I'm not an ignorant European with no experience of Americans both in their country and abroad while travelling looking to drag with no receipts.
Some Americans can be so embarrassingly uncultured when abroad, as if they expect countries like France to suddenly be English-speaking and bend over backwards to accommodate them, rather than them having to get stuck in to a foreign experience.
Then you have the types who carve graffiti into the Colosseum

I just made a 3 week trip through cali, arizona, utah and nevada this summer and my opinions have slightly changed
They're really friendly, but then again the stereotype of being 'over the top and fake' kinda applied to a lot of people there, but I guess that's just the way they are

I like the USA but for most people I know it's like: "fat people, weapons and cowboys".
But it's ok since most of you fall into cliches too (like your good sis Madonna who thinks Spain is all flamenco and bull fights.)
We'll call it square.
