I have a feeling the game's been banned from here. Wouldn't blame them since it gets so messy.

Can anyone who is responsible start a new season, please? I'm pretty sure everyone wants to play, but only if we have a good host.

I want to do a Create A Label Revamped kind of thing with a couple of changes. Especially because as a player, I know why this game got so exhausting after a point.
These are a couple of changes I would want to make:
First, Quality >>>>>>>>>> Quantity. As long as you write a post that encapsulates all you want to say, you get the point. Longer articles are just up to you, but if the long article has no substance, then it's more or less useless compared to a 250 post that passed the message clearly and accurately.
Second, tweets, posts, lyric videos, cameos, red carpet appearances, scandal and all of those miscallenous things count towards the chart position because realistically, they actually do.
Third, booking venues prices stay the same. The difference is in who can book what. For you to be able to book a stadium, that artiste must have at least had 3 songs go platinum, been number 1 at least twice, and should have at least had a number of songs be in the top 3. There would be limits for arenas, and theatres as well. In that case, not everybody is playing stadiums, and if you do want to play a stadium, be an opening act.
Fourth, There would be A LOT more AWARD SHOWS and special events.
Fifth, and I think this is the most complicated one to understand so keep up. Points would come from how well and healthy your label is keeping your artiste. If a label is making their artiste fly from California to Tokyo to the UK in this order all in one night, that is time-consuming, budget wasting, and typically tiring for the artiste. You will lose points for that. However, if an artiste for example is on tour and goes from San Jose, CA to Los Angeles, CA and then to New York next, you will get more points because typically that's a much better route, and a whole less stressful. In this way, people wouldn't be doing all manner of unnecessary and dumb promo like X Factor Germany and X Factor India in the same night.
Sixth is in talk shows and such. Shows like the Tonight Show and Ellen and such naturally don't only take ONE guest per episode, they usually have like 2 artistes come, one for an interview, and one for like an interview + performance...or sometimes, 2 for interview, and a third artiste for strictly performances. I want to enforce that so that there would just be more places for you to perform on a daily instead of making up places and shows.
These are some of the things I would like to enforce, so if you're down with it, let me know so I can go ahead and make a thread if need be.

Okay, so I think I'm going to host the next season, assuming no one objects. VDK is running another game right now so I think he/she isn't interested right now. Tentative date for the first week to start is May 31, with the thread opening sometime from early to mid May.
I have a tentative ruleset. Feel free to make suggestions. I based it on CAL 6/7 and VDK's proposed rules. I put comments in parentheses (they're separate sentences btw). And don't worry, it will look nicer when I actually make the thread.
Welcome to Create a Label 2015! This is essentially CAL 8, but most people aren’t here for multiple seasons a year and wanted a single summer season per year. So since I decided to host it, I decided to just cut the season number out. This season should start around the first week of June so those of you in high school can play as well.
If you’re new, Create a Label is a game in which you start a label (or continue playing one from a previous season) and sign artists. You are only given so many points (essentially a budget, but simplified), so don’t sign too many artists! I recommend starting off with one artist. To promote your artist, you release singles and albums as well as write articles. Your artist can also go on tours, which boosts album sales.
Basics
Every player starts out with a label -- 75 points goes along with it (this can be changed if most of us think it should be). I will be keeping track of everyone’s points. Every artist you sign will cost 10 points; and the costs for releasing stuff is further down the page. With an artist you release singles, eventually albums and you promote and such. At the beginning of each week (Sunday) weekly charts will be released.
There are a few changes, so make sure you read this through.
Charts
This season, we will have some new charts. First, we have the standard albums and single sales charts. These will essentially be the same as the previous seasons’ charts. In addition, we will supplement the single sales chart with three new charts. Radio airplay and streaming charts will be added, and will be factored into a Hot 100-style overall singles chart. Also, the albums chart will also include streaming, just like the Billboard 200. This means that if your artist gets a radio deal for a single, the artist’s single get a major boost in the radio chart as well as mild bumps in the sales and streaming charts; if your artist releases a music video for a single, the single will (assuming you’ve done other promotion, and depending on how controversial the video is) see a huge boost in the streaming chart, as well as mild bumps in the radio and streaming charts. If your artist discounts a single or album, the streaming points will slightly decrease for both, but airplay will slightly increase for singles. Charts will be released every Sunday.
Releasing Material
In order to earn more points, you need to release a single, EP, or album first. And to release any of those, you need to spend points. It’s a never-ending cycle… until the game ends, of course. Below, you can find everything you can release. Albums have a limit of 6 features or collaborations with other CAL artists; you can release an album with an infinite number of non-CAL artist features, since they won’t help anyone but your artist.
Albums
Standard Album (20 points base, 35 points max): The widely-available version of an album, with a minimum of 10 tracks. This is the base cost of any album release. Albums should be released after 1 or 2 singles for optimal performance, but you can release it however you want. You can add any of the following editions of the album for an additional cost.
Deluxe Edition (+5 points): The same as the standard edition, but with more songs.
Retailer-Exclusive Edition (+2 points, requires Deluxe): This edition is either the same as the deluxe version or in between the Deluxe and Super Deluxe editions. If you make it the same as the deluxe version, the “real” deluxe version will not be available in countries that have the retailer you choose. For example, if you choose Target, someone cannot purchase the deluxe version anywhere else in the US besides Target. However, if you go to Mexico or Canada (since Target left there), the deluxe version is available everywhere. If you choose the option in between the Super Deluxe and the Deluxe, it’s just an additional version of the album. Either way is worth it though since you’ll get a sales boost due to the promotion.
Super Deluxe/Fan Edition (+5 points): Same as the deluxe, but with even more songs. This is often considered the “fan” version.
Country-Specific (e.g. Japan) Edition (+3 points): In some countries such as Japan, it costs more to produce a CD for that market, meaning the CD has to be priced higher. However, physical sales are still strong enough there for it to be work it to release albums there physically. Therefore, you can add some extra songs to the album to make it more worth it. This will often be the Super Deluxe edition with a bonus song or two. Also, some countries may just arbitrarily have different versions of the album for whatever reason.
Visual Album (30 points base, 45 points max): Each song has a music video. Editions can be added to this version just like a standard album. Must have a minimum of 10 tracks, not including videos.
EP (10 points): Similar to an album, but with a minimum of 4 tracks and a maximum of 9 tracks. An EP can either be a standalone work (like the Title EP or Truth Serum) or a supplement to an EP (such as More or The Fame Monster). It won’t sell as much as an album, but it’s also half the price of one.
Re-releases (10 points): No matter if you want to continue a successful era with new material or you want to boost an underperforming era, you can release a new version of the album.
Re-release EP (+5 points): If you want to re-release an album but also not force people who already bought the album to buy it again, you can release an EP with the new tracks on it for half the price of a standalone EP.
Singles
Singles are used to promote albums. Often, 1 or 2 singles will precede an album to build hype. An era is allowed to have at most 3 CAL artists featured on its singles; this includes collaborations. You can feature or collaborate with an unlimited amount of non-CAL artists. There will be a collaboration/feature bonus with CAL artists.
Standard Single (5 points): If you’re not sure where to start, start with this type of single. This is a basic release that nearly every era starts out with. This type of single also includes features.
Collaboration Single (5 points per artist): If you want a single to credit more than one artist as the lead, then this is what you’ll release. Except in special circumstances (such as soundtracks- more on this later), there is a limit of 3 artists on a song. Each artist on the song uses 5 points at the expense of the artist’s label.
Promotional Single (3 points): If you don’t want to release a full single, then you can choose this type of single. A promotional single is generally released a few weeks before the album to generate buzz, but can be released at any time. Generally, a promotional single will get little to no promotion; if an artist’s promotional single is heavily promoted, I may consider it as a main single (I will tell you this).
Music Video (2 points): Since streaming now counts towards the chart position, music videos now have a price. Most singles get a music video for promotion. If you release a music video, then you will have (based on no promotion) a 10% chance of the video going viral, a 40% chance of the video doing decently, and a 50% chance of the video flopping. These percentages change as you do more promo, and if your promo is good enough, there is virtually no chance for the video to flop.
Lyric/Remix Video (1 point): A quick, easy, and cheap way to give a song a boost.
Radio Deal (3 points): Since radio airplay now counts towards the chart position, radio deals now have a price. This will provide a nice boost on the airplay chart.
Remix Single (4 points): A remix featuring another artist, either CAL or non-CAL. If the artist is a CAL artist, then the era feature/collaboration limit is increased by one, but maxes out at 5.
Remix EP (10 points): This will give a boost to a single. Same requirements as a normal EP.
Promotion
In order to have your single do well on the charts, you’ll need to promote. To promote, you will need to write articles about your artist’s performances, interviews, new things, controversies, etc. You can pretty much write about whatever you want. The only exceptions are big talk shows (Letterman/Colbert, Kimmel, Fallon, Conan, Meyers, Corden), sketch shows (e.g. SNL) and talent competitions (e.g. The Voice or America’s Got Talent); you will need to talk to me about those. Also, you can’t reserve the same show more than once every week for talk shows, once every other week for talent shows, and once a whole season for SNL unless there’s no one available to perform. Multiple people can be on the same show in one night. For talk shows, the maximum limit is either 1 non-performing artist and 1 performance, or 1 artist both performing and being interviewed (the performance can include other artists). For talent competitions, there are 2-3 performance slots. For SNL, there is only one slot.
There is a limit of 15 articles this season. (I’m open to raising it to 20 at most.)
There is no word limit this season, but quality is much preferred over quantity. You also don’t need to describe every last detail; if I wanted that I’d read a novel, not an article. 750 words is the sweet spot.
Miscellaneous promotion (tweets, red carpet appearances, controversies, etc.) will count towards chart positions. (I might also include a Twitter chart for fun.)
I’d recommend reserving SNL for your album release week for the maximum boost. For the first week, if no one has an album out Ariana will perform. Once everyone interested has gotten one chance to perform on SNL, everyone has another chance to perform.
Also, when doing talent shows, stick to the ones in the US, UK, and Australia. I may invent continent-wide ones to avoid people performing at every version of The Voice.
(If there is paid promotion, I will make sure people can’t take them over and over by checking who’s taking them.)
New this season is an overexertion penalty. If you shuffle an artist from place to place nonstop (for example, performances in Tokyo, Seoul, London, and New York [buy Mr. Taxi on iTunes] on the same day), your artist won’t sell as much.
Opportunities
Returning from CAL 6 are Opportunities! Formerly called Hype Opportunities, I renamed them since I’m not iHype. And maybe they'll actually happen more than once this season.
Every week, you will be given 2 opportunities, either a minigame or a challenge. The first opportunity will be for special rewards that will be determined later, but will help you in the charts. It will be things like a free radio deal or promotion in the thread’s title.
The second opportunity will be for CAL Magazine. The winner of this opportunity will get the front cover of the magazine plus an interview, while 2nd and 3rd place get interviews. All of these will give you a bonus on the charts.
Touring
Artists can tour to promote. To tour, an artist must have an album or EP released. Touring will give a generous boost to album sales, but will also be used for single sales, streams, and airplay if needed to break a tie.
A tour must be at least 10 dates long when supporting an album and 6 dates long when supporting an EP. An artist can have a maximum of 5 dates per week in support of an album and a maximum of 3 dates per week in support of an EP. The more dates you do a week, the bigger the venue, and the more elaborate the concert will give a bigger boost to album sales.
You will get points back if you tour. Having the #1 tour will give you half of your points back, while having the #2 tour will give you a third back. Everyone else will get a quarter of the points back.
Venue Prices are below. New this season is restrictions on who can perform where. Keep in mind that the bigger the venue, the higher the expectations will be. Don’t tour stadiums when you have a singer that doesn’t sing like Whitney or Mariah in their primes just standing there. The bigger the venue, the more vocally talented your artist needs to be or the more elaborate the concert needs to be.
(Not sure if I should consider previous seasons for this. It would make more sense, tbh.)
Club (3 points): For new artists and beginning players. Anyone can perform at these.
Theatres (5 points): For semi-established artists and indie artists. The artist must have at least one gold single.
Arenas (10 points): For big acts. The artist must have at least two platinum singles and two top 10 singles.
Stadiums (15 points): For only the top artists. The artist must have 3 platinum singles, at least one #1, and five top 10 singles.
Special Events
Special events are things such as award shows. These events will be catered to CAL- that is, your artists will be performing and (at awards shows) winning at these! Winning awards will provide big sales boosts to albums and singles, just like in real life. Performances will also give artists huge boosts.
The first special event will be the Billboard Music Awards, which will take place on May 31. It will be honoring artists, songs, and albums from CAL 7 (since there weren’t any awards for that). This gives you a chance to promote your lead singles!
Ground Rules
It can be generally agreed upon that fighting only helps to ruin a season. I want to make sure that this season lasts as long as possible, and for it to be as fun and run as smoothly as possible. So, rules have been put in place in order to control behavior. These rules also further explain some things that may not have been clarified earlier, and they therefore help you play.
These rules are adapted from CAL 7’s rules.
1. No Fighting: Nothing serious. A small amount of shade, maybe a quick kii, is all fine, but the second it gives way to something more serious or starts causing issues, some action will be taken. If you know you're already on rough terms with someone, do not try and shade them whatsoever, and don't contribute to any messes. Stay in your lane.
2. Charting Issues: If you believe that your artist and their material deserves a higher spot up on the charts, please PM me and I'll try to help explain, or make changes if any errors were actually made. Please don't make a fuss of it in the thread. Make sure it all remains in private, please and thank you.
3. Finishing a Week: Whenever you're done posting your articles and stuff for the week, have your list ready to go. Send it to me in a PM, and make sure it's neat and organized. Make sure to include the titles of your articles in the PM, and include links to each of said articles. Please be sure to also include your label name and the titles of your articles.
4. Respect: As an add-on to rule #1, make sure you respect the host and your fellow contestants. If you're mad over something, try to work it out with either me or the person you have beef with in private. Do not make a mess in the thread, because that ruins everything for everybody.
5. Artist Drama: When you want to start some drama between your artist and another, make sure it’s okay with the label’s owner first: send them a PM. Last season, we lost someone because they weren’t comfortable with playing along with the artificial drama. I don’t want that to happen again, so let’s follow this rule.
6. Have Fun: This should be most important. This game is meant for fun. While some aspects may get serious, don't let it ruin things for you or each other! I know I've enjoyed it when I've played, and I hope you all will do the same. Happy playing!

I think you covered all the necessary ground.
Hopefully you do an amazing job. I don't know if I'll be playing but I'll definitely be coming back to see how it's going.

Alright, I have another version. This version will be the version I use in the thread (coming May 3) unless I get graphics done by then (I won't).
First, I'd like to announce that to kick off the new season on May 31, I and Ariana will be hosting the 2015 CAL Music Awards! The CAL Music Awards recognizes artists, labels, and managers from the previous season of CAL. Feel free to send any nominations to me via PM.
Also, this gives you a chance to promote your artists' lead singles! More info on this will come around mid-May.
Also, feel free to start reserving artists if you played in CAL6 or CAL7. If there is a conflict over an artist due to the artist switching hands between seasons, the person who had the artist in CAL7 gets the artist since that season was cut short, unless they also want another artist they had that season. Then, they would have to choose between the artists. Let me know if anyone knows of a better way to handle this, let me know.
Gonna try to get iHype to change the thread title.
Anyway, here's the ruleset:
this code is annoying

I’d recommend reserving SNL for your album release week for the maximum boost. For the first week, if no one has an album out or no one wants SNL Ariana will perform. Once everyone interested has gotten one chance to perform on SNL, everyone has another chance to perform.
Also, when doing talent shows, stick to the ones in the North America, UK, and Australia. I may invent continent-wide ones to avoid people performing at every version of The Voice.
If there is paid promotion, I will make sure people can’t take them over and over by checking who’s taking them.
New this season is an overexertion penalty. If you shuffle an artist from place to place nonstop (for example, performances in Tokyo, Seoul, London, and New York [buy Mr. Taxi on iTunes] on the same day), your artist won’t sell as much because people will notice that the performances aren't up to par.
Opportunities
Returning from CAL 6 are Opportunities! Formerly called Hype Opportunities, I renamed them since I’m not iHype. Hopefully this happens more than once the whole season.
Venue requirements include all seasons. Just prepare your receipts for when you send your tour articles in. - Club (3 points): For new artists and beginning players. Anyone can perform at these.
- Theatres (5 points): For semi-established artists and indie artists. The artist must have at least one gold single.
- Arenas (10 points): For big acts. The artist must have at least two platinum singles and two top 10 singles.
- Stadiums (15 points): For only the top artists.
The first special event will be the CAL Music Awards, which will take place on May 31. It will be honoring artists, songs, and albums from CAL 7 (since there weren’t any awards for that). This gives you a chance to promote your lead singles! You can send nominations in now, and stay tuned for final voting and reserving promo spots.
Ground Rules
It can be generally agreed upon that fighting only helps to ruin a season. I want to make sure that this season lasts as long as possible, and for it to be as fun and run as smoothly as possible. So, rules have been put in place in order to control behavior. These rules also further explain some things that may not have been clarified earlier, so they may help you play.
2. Chart Issues: If you believe that your artist and their material deserves a higher spot up on the charts, please PM me and I'll try to help explain, or make changes if any errors were actually made.
Please be sure to also include your label name as well as the titles and word counts of your articles.
4. Respect: As an add-on to rule #1, make sure you respect the host and your fellow contestants. If you're mad over something, try to work it out with either me or the person you have beef with in private. Do not make a mess in the thread, because that ruins everything for everybody.
5. Artist Drama: When you want to start some drama between your artist and another, make sure it’s okay with the the artist's label first: send them a PM. Last season, we lost someone because they weren't comfortable playing along with the artificial drama.
