Cheryl Cole is to start working on solo material, a Girls Aloud spokesman has confirmed to the BBC.
The rep said that members of the girl group will "take time out" this year to work on their own projects, which will include acting, beauty, fashion and music.
He revealed that Cole, 25, has approached a number of producers for her work, adding: "Her A&R people have approached various producers with the view to working with her.
"Until she has recorded music, we can't say who will be working on the record as we can't say at this stage what will make it past the idea stage."
Earlier this year, Girls Aloud signed a new record deal promising three more albums, including one in autumn 2010.
Bandmate Sarah Harding will make her acting debut in the BBC Two drama Freefall, starring with Dominic Cooper.
Cheryl is the most R&B one in the group, give the girl a chance to put some material out before you judge
Nadine voice is much more R&B then Cheryl's.
I'm not judging,im just saying when a "source" said it was going to be "R&B" they probably got R&B mixed up with Urban leaning Pop which isnt even close to R&B.
